The ACLU of Wyoming opposes House Bill 38, legislation that would require people to live in the state for at least 30 days to register to vote. This is an unnecessary – and unconstitutional – barrier to a citizen’s right to participate in elections.

A number of bills up for debate in the Wyoming legislature would add unnecessary restrictions on obtaining and casting an absentee ballot and will not make Wyoming elections more secure but rather make it harder for people to vote.

By knowing your rights, you’ll better prepared to advocate for yourself, your family and your neighbors. Don’t allow anyone to take advantage of your uncertainty and anxiety.

Absentee ballot drop boxes have proven to be an accessible, secure and easy way for voters across the country and here in Wyoming to cast their ballots, and they have been widely used by people of all backgrounds and political affiliations without issue.

When redistricting is conducted properly, district lines are redrawn to reflect population changes and racial diversity. But too often, redistricting is used as a political tool to manipulate the outcome of elections.

Every eligible Wyoming voter has the ability to protect the health and freedoms of their friends and neighbors, just by showing up to vote – for president, of course, but also for local officials and ballot measures.

The ACLU of Wyoming’s campaign – amplified through digital and outdoor advertising, direct mail, an expansive email program and social media outreach – is encouraging voters to make a plan to vote, whether that’s absentee by mail or early at their county clerk’s office or in-person on Nov. 3.

This virtual event will help attendees better understand voting absentee and the rights guaranteed to Wyoming voters.
