UPDATE: House Bill 148, which passed the House and Senate, is now House Enrolled Act No. 37. Gov. Gordon has until midnight Friday, March 8 to decide what to do with the bill.

Tell Gov. Gordon to VETO House Bill 148!

House Bill 148 would require an ultrasound be performed before a patient can receive an abortion (medication or surgical), mandates a 48-hour waiting period between the ultrasound and the abortion, requires that a surgical abortion facility be licensed as an ambulatory surgical center, and requires physicians to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 10 miles of the surgical abortion facility.

The ACLU of Wyoming opposes this bill. The regulations House Bill 148 would impose on abortion providers are burdensome, medically unnecessary, and do not improve the health and safety of patients.

Patient care, after all, isn’t the purpose of House Bill 148. House Bill 148 is meant to close clinics down by forcing doctors to comply with regulations they can’t – and shouldn’t need – to meet.
