Students: Know Your Rights

September 14, 2019 @ 3:30 pm

You have the right to be yourself

All students attending public schools in Wyoming have a constitutional right to express their views and identities. At this event co-hosted with the Wyoming GSA Network, you will learn about your rights to free speech in the Laramie County school district and how to exercise them.

Additionally, we will address the issue of dress codes in public schools. While many schools have dress codes, federal law states that they cannot treat boys differently than girls, and force students to conform to gender stereotypes. Furthermore, public school policies aren’t able to censor particular viewpoints from being expressed on campus. We will cover this in depth at our training.

Join and learn how we can work together toward more inclusive classrooms.
