Kali Pearson has joined the ACLU of North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming as a summer intern for the three-state chapter’s legal department.
As a legal intern, Pearson will develop substantive skills and professional experience through trainings and on-the-job learning. She’ll work alongside ACLU lawyers on a variety of issues and be responsible for conducting legal and policy research, drafting memoranda, affidavits and briefs, and researching and drafting materials for public education.
“Kali’s educational background, interest in constitutional rights and commitment to social justice made her a natural fit for our summer internship program,” said Stephanie Amiotte, legal director for the ACLU of North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. “Kali will be a vital contributor to our active litigation. We’re excited to help her grow and develop her legal skills.”
Pearson is a law student at the University of South Dakota School of Law. At USD, Pearson has been involved in the trial team and has competed in a numerous regional and national competitions. She’s also active in the Black Law Students Association and the American Constitution Society.
Pearson earned her undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
