Legal Observer Training

Summary

The need for legal observers is critical to deter unlawful governmental intervention at protests and document potential abuse of power as more and more people are making their voices heard by marching in the streets.

That's why we're hosting a legal observer training in Rock Springs on Friday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Legal observers act as visible witnesses at demonstrations, rallies, and other free speech events and are there to document any incidents of police misconduct or violations of constitutional rights.

ACLU legal observers are committed to defending free speech in a way that is as objective as possible so that their documentation can be used as evidence if police misconduct or obstructions to constitutionally protected free speech are challenged in court.

By completing this training and joining the ACLU's volunteer legal observer team, you can do your part to uphold the First Amendment. Will you help us protect protesters, hold law enforcement accountable, and defend our free society?
