UPDATE: House Bill 196 failed in the Minerals Committee.
House Bill 196 or the “workplace transparency act” would make it discriminatory for employers to prohibit an employee from disclosing the employee's own wages, discussing the wages of others, inquiring about another employee's wages or aiding or encouraging any other employee to exercise the employee's rights.

We support this bill because it is a way to root out discrimination in the workplace.

If people are able to feely discuss their salaries they will be able to hold employers accountable for compensating someone less.
