Description:

HB 10 is a reiteration of a very similar bill last year which passed the Legislature and was vetoed by former Governor Matt Mead. The bill would chill legal protests and criminalized specific acts against certain infrastructure; largely energy and fossil fuel operations.

UPDATE: After passing through the House Minerals Committee on a 5-4 vote, the bill was not taken up for discussion on the House floor and failed as a result of not passing before the cutoff.

ACLU position:

The ACLU of South Dakota opposes House Bill 10. This bill would have chilled legal protests and criminalized specific acts against certain infrastructure; largely energy and fossil fuel operations.
